Full payment before registration?

I asked this question back in 2013. Was wondering if things have changed since then with Event Espresso.

1. When people register for an event, I need them to pay the full event price -or- make a deposit before the system accepts their registration. Does Event Espresso allow this now?

*NOTE: I read on the WP Forums that this plug-in allows registration without paying. This would be useless for my needs.
Simply put, I need to collect FULL PAYMENT -or- deposit before Event Espresso even registers the user in the system.

Please advise.

Hi Mark,

The short answer is no as Event Espresso creates a registration as soon as possible then updates that registration (and associated transaction) as the attendee moves through the registration process.

Currently with EE4 the Steps are:

1. Select Event
2. Select tickets (a ‘blank’ registration is created here)
3. Input registration details (reg details are applied to the registration)
4. Select Payment method.
5. Pay.
6. Load thank you page and send related messages (registration emails, ticket email etc)

But to be clear registrations do not apply to the registration/tickets/attendee limits unless they have been ‘Approved’. By default this only happens when the attendee pays in full at step 5, the ticket is free so this happens automatically or you (the event admin) manually update the registration status.

Can I ask why you need payment in full before the registration is recorded if that registration doesn’t actually apply to the event until payment is made?

We do have a ticket to add the ability to pay before the registration information is requested but currently it is not ready for release, however I can include any feedback given within the ticket for the team to discuss.
