I’ve used Frontend Maintenance Mode a few times to test new events and mess around and train clients before presenting stuff to the world, and it usually works great, but today I turned it on and, while logged in as an Administrator user, I’m getting: “Event Registration has been temporarily closed while system maintenance is being performed. We’re sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused. Please try back again later.”
So I can’t test anything. I’ve tried two different admin users, both get the same result. I’ve got the admin bar showing on the same page as this message, so I know I haven’t accidentally logged out or anything. I’m not sure where to look for clues about what’s changed.
It turns out something changed with the Frontend-Only Maintenance Mode and despite its now incorrect text that says admins can access events while in Maintenance Mode, they actually cannot.
What you can do instead is set the event’s post status to Draft or set its Visibility to Private and that way the events will not show on the front end to logged out users.
You’re welcome. This is something that will eventually be fixed because as we expect the Front-end only maintenance mode should allow admins to view the events. We’ll update this thread when there’s a fix included in an update release.
