Hello,
Where and How can I convert my Event Espresso – 4.1.12.reg in French.
I upload the continents-cities-fr_FR.mo and the fr_FR.mo file in the languages folder under wp-content. I changed my wp-config.php file from define(‘WPLANG’, ”); to define(‘WPLANG’, ‘fr_FR’);
And now the link to my expresso link (like http://ventes.rtmq.info/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_events) do not work anymore. I had to reverse in English to make it work,
Is there is French PO I have to upload somewhere ?
Thanks in advance
Pierre

Hello,

Our various language files for Event Espresso 4 are available here:

https://eventespresso.com/glotpress/projects/event-espresso-4/

We recommend using Poedit to make changes:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/

If you are interested in helping with translation then please complete the form at the end of this page:

https://eventespresso.com/features/languages/

Thanks Lorenzo but I can’t see where I can download a file like when I am in this page :
https://eventespresso.com/glotpress/projects/event-espresso-4/
Where is the event_espresso-fr_FR.po file and do I have to upload it to the language folder ?
Thanks again

Hi Pierre,

I believe you’ll need an account for the GlotPress site in order to see a download link. Alternatively you can grab a copy from Github here:

https://github.com/eventespresso/languages-ee4/blob/master/event_espresso-fr_FR.mo

You’ll need to make sure you right click, save as the “View Raw” link.

Once the language file is uploaded to the languages directory and you’ve set the language definition, you will need to go to WP > Permalink settings and reload that page to flush out the rewrite rules. (As the events custom post type slug will now be translated and the WP rewrite rules need to be updated.)

Thanks Josh, There is 2 languages folder;
/wp-content/languages
and
/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/languages
Thanks again

I put them at the 2 places… I changed the wp-config.php to define(‘WPLANG’, ‘fr_FR’);

Not sure how you reload the permanent link page. I did a refresh and I saved…. but there is not really a reload function in this page.

And I have some text in French on the espresso form (display) but impossible to access to the admin function of espresso like before….
ex: http://ventes.rtmq.info/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_events

may you have a look please as you have all the access.
Thanks in advance
Pierre

My website is in french

Pierre,

Can you send the SFTP credentials via the redeem a support token form?

Pierre Bes

April 15, 2014 at 2:31 pm

Very strange as
http://ventes.rtmq.info/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_maintenance_settings
http://ventes.rtmq.info/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_payment_settings
and others are still working
but not
http://ventes.rtmq.info/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_events (error 500)
http://ventes.rtmq.info/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_messages (error 500(

If I change the wp-config.php to the define(‘WPLANG’, ”);
The 2 links will work again (event and messages) but as you know the language will be everywhere in English.
Any idea ?

It looks like you have the wrong French language file. Can you upload this one instead:

https://github.com/eventespresso/languages-ee4/blob/master/event_espresso-fr_FR.mo?raw=true

Pierre,

We haven’t received any FTP creds. Can you try that again?

Also, do you know why your WP-admin doesn’t have the full French Translation? Only some phrases are being translated, where in my French site, everything is translated.

Here’s a screenshot showing what I mean.

I just sent it again via the form.
It is ssh ftp.
I don’t know why I do not have all the full French, may you please update it with your mo files as your French web site is bertter !

Thanks in advance

Pierre,

Your server was running low on memory, and using translation functions increases the amount of memory needed. I edited the wp-config.php file to allow for more memory for WordPress, and also uploaded the admin-fr_FR.mo French language file which has the strings your site’s admin was missing.

Hello again,
I download Poedit and the event-espresso-4-fr.po file at https://eventespresso.com/glotpress/projects/event-espresso-4/
I added some translation I needed. I saved it in mo file. I upload at the same place the old event_espresso-fr_FR.mo was.
And now, I have no more translation in espresso.
What is the correct name of the mo file to work with Event Espresso – 4.1.12.reg event-espresso-4-fr_FR.mo ? event-espresso-fr_FR.mo ? The name of my plugin is event-espresso-core-reg
I also upload the event-espresso-fr_FR.mo I backuped before that change and no more translation at all. Before that, I had some word already translated in French but no more. I also refresh the permalink each time… What is wrong somewhere ?
Thanks in advance !
Pierre

The correct file name is event-espresso-fr_FR.mo. You can download a fresh copy from here:

Pierre,

When you are working in Poedit and go to save the changes, is it automatically generating a .mo file?

Pierre Bes

April 16, 2014 at 10:38 am

yes,
I also test and upload the file https://github.com/eventespresso/languages-ee4/blob/master/event_espresso-fr_FR.mo?raw=true you sent me this morning.
And there is no more the translation in the event I add yesterday. Sound like the language function do not work at all for espresso ;(

Hello,
I deposited 2 files for the french language.

The event_espresso-fr_FR.mo (the one you sent me 2 days ago)
and just now the
event-espresso-4-fr_FR.mo
The file I created from Poedit with many sentences and words I changed.

None of them are working

The event_espresso-fr_FR.mo was working 2 days ago.

But when I erased it after changing sentence and naming event_espresso-fr_FR.mo instead of event-espresso-4-fr_FR.mo

All the espresso start to be in english…

I erased the new event_espresso-fr_FR.mo with the one you sent me and everyting is still in english.

Just for you to understand, the problem is not because there is 2 files for the espresso langauge, I just upload the event-espresso-4-fr_FR.mo because it is the one I want.
And I want to be able to erased it with the modification I will have to do.

Will buy now token…

Pierre,

Translations were working the other day when I finished up the support token. Can you let me know what’s been changed on the site since we last worked on it?

Pierre Bes

I uploaded a new translation file to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages and it’s working fine from there.

When you download a po file for the purposes of editing, please be sure to right click then save as. Then, when you finish up with Poedit, be sure to make a backup of the file I uploaded to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages before you upload your custom .mo file.

Pierre Bes

April 17, 2014 at 3:28 pm

May you add please the po file also than I will be able to work on it with poedit.
You put it on /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages ??
Then you created a new folder ? Where do you set in espresso the link where the mo file is ?
according to me there is a lot of languages folder now :
/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/languages
/wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages
/wp-content/languages

really messy no ?

How did uyou also fix the problem with Goes on sale, no more under the text over ?

Josh

I didn’t set anything. Event Espresso will look in the locations automatically. The reason there are a lot of language files is because there are more than one. There’s one for Event Espresso, one for the WP admin (which you asked me to add because it was missing from your install), and the regular WP language file that you already had. You can remove the ee translation files in the other locations, but please leave the file in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages.

The correct po file can be downloaded from here:
https://github.com/eventespresso/languages-ee4

Please be sure to right click download as. The file size should come out to be about 3.5Mb in size. If it’s a lot less than that it means you saved the link, not the file.

How did uyou also fix the problem with Goes on sale, no more under the text over ?

I installed the Reaktiv CSS Builder plugin and added a few style rules to fix the layout issues.

Thanks Josh,
I download the po file (3.6 mo) but impossible to open it with poedit version 1.6.4. It said the file is corrupted or in format no recognized etc…. May you please upload it closed the mo file on my server ?
I found many file like event-espresso-4-fr-ca.po or event-espresso-4-fr_FR.po but they are only 832 kb and it seems that many word are missing. I did not find out in it the
Step 1 – Attendee Information
or
Proceed to payment Options

Then I believe that the 3.5 mo should be the good one… if I can open it !
Just try first if you can open it with Poedit…
Thanks in advance
Pierre

Pierre,

I went ahead and uploaded the event_espresso-fr_FR.po file to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages.

If you (or anyone else) or anyone else is having trouble with downloading the language files from Github, another way these can be downloaded is by downloading the entire repository by going to the main repository page:

https://github.com/eventespresso/languages-ee4

and click the “Download ZIP” button that is at the bottom of the right side column.

This will download a zip files containing all the language files for Event Espresso 4 where you can take your language’s .po and .mo files from.

April 23, 2014 at 7:11 am

Thanks a lot for that Josh.
But many informations are missing in this po file or the information are hard-coded somewehere 🙁

I searched for “show details” and “Proceed to Payment Options” in vain ;(
They are part of the process and I can’t translatebthem. Also, I found “Goes on Sale”, I changed it at the only 2 places for “En vente le” but I still can see “Goes On Sale” in orange in the selling page.
Any idea ?

Thanks in advance
Pierre

Pierre,

There are a few cases where the button text is dynamic, and the Proceed to buttons are one example.

These are also in the po and can be found by using less strict search options (eg. uncheck the whole words only search option like this for the Proceed to button) ,

this for goes on sale,

and this for show details.

Hello again Pierre,

We have a new resource that explains how to translate Event Espresso. You can view it here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-translate-event-espresso/

Also, GlotPress now has translation strings that are up to date for the current Event Espresso 4.8.x platform.
