I upgraded to EE 3.1.31.P last night. Since then, registrants are being told they owe $1,000,000 after they submit registration for free events. It still says ‘Free Event’ in each event description. HELP! Jennifer |
Hi Jennifer, Can you post a link to an event where this is happening so we can investigate? |

Hi, Josh – Thanks for your quick response! Here is a link to one event that’s having this issue: http://www.brookfieldlibrary.org/event-information?ee=801 Thanks- Jennifer |
Hi Jennifer, I’ve notified the developers on this one. From what I can tell, there was a security fix that was added late in the 3.1.31.beta cycle that is making this happen. We’re working on a hotfix that should be out shortly. Sorry for the trouble. Do you have a copy of 3.1.30.7 that you can revert to? If not I can send you an email with a copy attached. |
|
|
I don’t have a copy of 3.1.30.7. If you could email me a copy at jdoyon@brookfieldlibrary.org, I will much appreciate it. |
Hey Jennifer, I’m working through some testing on this and it looks like if the very latest version of WP user integration (1.9.7) add-on is installed, the pricing functions will override the bug in 3.1.31.P core. If you don’t have that add-on installed, you can download it from you account page. Then you can install it and the free events will work as expected. |

|
Thanks, Josh. This workaround fixed the problem. However, can you please let me know when the issue has been fixed so I can deactivate the user integration plugin? |
Hi Jennifer, I’ll be sure to post in this thread when the hotfix is ready. |
|
The hotfix is up in version 3.1.31.1.P. |

Josh – Thank you, as always, for the superior support! Jennifer |

Yes was is happening to me as well, thanks for the fix! |

Hi, we also have the 1.000.000$ problem. Unfortunately your solution above did not solve our problem. The problem came up when we created a wordpress page using using shortcodes for multiple event registration: On the page a user should be able to add multiple free events via “ESPRESSO_CART_LINK …” to the shopping card. The million-dollar bug occurs when you add two or more free events to your shopping card via shortcode-links on a WordPress page (and you refesh the shopping card). For some reason with only a single event in the shoppingcard you do not have the problem. Also interesting: If you use the same shortcode-links in a description of another (priced) event the problem does not occur. We are using the latest versions (eventespresso, multiple event registration, wp user addon …) provided by eventespresso. We would appreciate if you find a solution. Otherwise it is not possible to have a wordpress page showing a timetable with multiple free events that can be selected individually by a user. Thanks very much for your support. |
Hi Patrick, I tried testing this out exactly as you described and could not reproduce this. Can you have a look at how I have the page set up here and let me know if I don’t have it set up right in order to reproduce: |
|

Thanks for testing. Your setup seems the same as mine but I cannot reproduce the problem on your page as well. So probably I am doing things wrong. Maybe you are using slightly different shortcodes for the links. Here is my setup: Event 1: [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”6″ anchor=”Auswählen”] Event 2: [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”7″ anchor=”Auswählen”] ( I am using “anchor =” for changing the link text) Next step Link: [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK direct_to_cart=1 moving_to_cart=”Weiter mit der Registrierung”] (I am using “moving_to_cart=” for changing the redirection-link text to the shopping card) I figured out that after selecting both events and using a “View-Cart” Link of one of the both events there is no problem. But if I am using the “Next-step” link to move on to the shopping card I have the bug again. Maybe there is something wrong how I am using the last shortcode on my page. All this link should do is redirect to the shopping card without any direct relation to an event. Which shortcodes are you using exactly?
|
I’m using these: [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=2] and [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=2649] Looking at your reply I’d say that it’s the “Next-Step” links that aren’t set up correctly. If the [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK] is put on a page it needs to have an event_id. Please see the documentation for examples: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/#add-to-cart You can omit the event_ID if it’s placed within an event description because it will use the event_id of the event it’s on. If you want to include a “Next-step” link on this page you can add something like this to your page and it will work as expected: <a href="http://yoursite.com/event-registration/?regevent_action=show_shopping_cart">Next step</a> |

Works. Thank you very much for the explanation! |
