I would like to remove the Google+ link from the Connect with Us section in the footer of the registrant emails as the client does not have a Google+ account. Would I have to create custom emails for each message type?

In the Contact Info section, on my phone, the company phone number is linked, but the leading zero is not linked. So when I click on the link it goes to “1992 nnnnnn” instead of “01992 nnnnnn”. However, the message template shows only [CO_PHONE]. How do I correct this?

Hi there,

Would I have to create custom emails for each message type?

No, but you will need to edit each of the default templates (pretty much all of them have that section).

Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default message templates.

Each message type can have multiple ‘contexts’ that it sends so for example the Registration Approved message type sends the ‘Event Admin’ and ‘Registrant’ contexts by default, each of those has their own independent template, see:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/messages-system-working-with-message-contexts/

You’ll need to edit the ‘Registrant’ or ‘Primary Registrant’ contexts for each of the message types in that list.

I’ll walk throughout he Registration Approved template, the others are very similar.

So we want the registrant context for Reg Approved, so we click this link – http://take.ms/fnxXi

In the main content section you’ll see the foot with the Google+ section – http://take.ms/8qc9P

You can either try removing that section by highlighting in the visual editor and deleting it (can be tricky to make sure you have all of the HTML removed)… or switch to Text mode and search for:

<a class="soc-btn gp" href="[CO_GOOGLE_URL]">Google+</a></td>

Then remove that and save – http://take.ms/CU34p

Save the template and repeat.

The default message templates are used by all of your events by default, you can create custom templates but those are intended to be for specific events rather than all as you have to select the custom template on each event.

In the Contact Info section, on my phone, the company phone number is linked, but the leading zero is not linked. So when I click on the link it goes to “1992 nnnnnn” instead of “01992 nnnnnn”. However, the message template shows only [CO_PHONE]. How do I correct this?

EE doesn’t actually create a link for the phone number so its likely your phone doing that, which phone are you using?

You should be able to fix it by wrapping the number href, so [CO_PHONE] would looks like: <a href="tel:[CO_PHONE]">[CO_PHONE]</a>http://take.ms/AT1dG

(You need to make that change in text mode, not visual.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your help and detailed instructions. I am happier editing in text mode than visual!

I was worried that if I edited the default templates, my changes would be overwritten whenever there’s a new release of EventEspresso. Thanks for clarifying the use of custom templates.

I’m not going to fix the thing with the leading zero on my phone. I don’t really want the number linked on larger screens. Further investigation shows that it’s the same on my tablet. Both of these are Android devices, but if I forward to a google email address and look using Gmail, the phone number appears correctly. I usually use Bluemail so it’s something to do with that software I think.

Kind regards,

Anita

Ah yeah I’ve seen that before, automatically filtering your content to add it for you? I think it was Bluemail that I saw it with and I believe theres an option to disable it on your account (although don’t quote me on that one as I could be wrong!)

Just to give some more info on message templates for anyone that may come across this thread, the first time EE is activated it uses the message template files to generate the message templates you see and saves them to the database as the ‘default’ message templates. The template files are then no longer used, EE uses your versions from the DB…. unless you click the ‘Reset templates’ button within the message type as EE then regenerates the template for you again and saves it to the DB.

‘Default’ in this case is just the default templates used by all events, unless you create a custom message template and assign that template to the event within the ‘notifications’ section of the event editor – http://take.ms/baE3G

(Global is the default template, you can select your custom message templates, if you have any, in its place).
