Could you tell me if using Event Espresso with http://www.learndash.com/ will fill our needs, along with a bit of custom programming? Here’s the Even Espresso Add-on – http://www.learndash.com/work/event-espresso/

Hi there,
Event Espresso itself does not provide the features that you asked about. The integration that you linked to will add a registrant/attendee to a specific class that is selected in Learndash after registration checkout.
However, the Learndash solution itself does appear to meet some of your requirements including generating custom certificates.
I do think that a combination of Event Espresso (and the Learndash integration) + Learndash + BBpress will get you close but I don’t think everything will be possible without custom coding.

Hello again, the Learndash integration for Event Espresso 4 is free. However, I do recommend checking with Learndash support before purchasing to ensure that the certificates option will work for your project.
We do have other add-ons such as the promotions system and the events calendar and others. However, these are not required to use Event Espresso 4.
