I have the current Beta version installed on a site with many records in it. When trying to filter records by month, EE is looking at the TXN date, not the event date. Also, when I type in a specific persons name, that name comes up but so do many names and they are not grouped by the name I sorted.

I also noticed the URL string gets very long and eventually I get a white page that essentially states the string returns too many records.

Hi Laran,

Just to be certain is this within Event Espresso -> Registrations?

I can see the issue with the month dropdown and have created a ticket for some feedback from the developers, although the search seems to work correctly on my site.

Can you provide some further details on what issue you see with the search?

Tony,

Yes. I just tested it again. When I click on Registrations and type just my first name I don’t get sorted names.

I have an account set up for EE from a recent issue on the site if you would like me to send it to you.

For reference, Lorenzo gave me instructions on how manually remove any EE4 trace from the database on this site so I could get a fresh conversion. I don’t think that’s the issue but it may help.

If you could that would be helpful.

Please us this form:
https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

If you can provide an example of what you are searching for I’ll re-though using that.

I also do not think the issue is from removing and re-installing EE.

Thank you, Laran.

I did receive your details and have been investigating this.

It turns out the date filter is expected to use the TXN Date for that section, it is the only place within EE4 that you can search for registrations based on when the registration took place.

To look at registrations within specific events you’ll need to find the event within Event Espresso -> Events. Then either hover over the Event name and you’ll see ‘Registrations’ – http://take.ms/2QkiU

Or, if you edit the event, you can also view the registrations from the links on the top right – http://take.ms/FqS5d

The search feature is a ‘fuzzy search find any results ‘like’ what is entered into the search field, it searches these fields:

Event Name (title), Event Description, First Name, Last Name, Bio, Email, Address, Comments, Notes, Registration Final Price, Registration Code, Registration Group Size, Ticket Name, and Ticket Description

So displays any results found from those fields. I have created a ticket for some developer feedback on how exactly this is expected to work.

Hi Laran,

Currently we do not have options to configure which search fields you would like to use so to list the attendees matching the name entered into the search field.

You can however order your search results, so if you use the search field. Then click on the ‘Name’ column title you’ll order that column either ASC or DESC. This should group similar registrations for that search result.

Does that help?

Tony,

Thanks, I was aware of that. Seems like the search in EE3 was a little easier to search for specific names.

Is there any way to ask EE to search for a specific string? If I wanted to search for John Doe, is there a way I could ask by using characters to return only if those characters were found in a string together?

Hi,

Unfortunately not, the search system is not that advance. It will look for a specific string within certain criteria (mentioned above by Tony). So for example you can search for John D but it’s unlikely to get a hit as the first name is John and the Surname is Doe (they are searched separately). However if the name John Doe was in an event description it would return all attendees in that event.
