Hi,

We’ve been using Event Espresso for years and 3 days ago Event Espresso disappeared from our Menu. Our previous webmaster passed away and while he did show me a few things, we’ve been left to figure out a lot on our own.

I saw “Event Espresso 4 Decaf” listed under the Plugins so I clicked on ‘Activate’ to see if that would get it back in our Menu and see if I was going to need to recreate the Events that I had created and Published on 3/15/2023 that are now gone.

Clicking the ‘Activate’ link threw the Fatal Error listed below:
Warning: require_once(/var/www/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-decaf/core/bootstrap_espresso.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-decaf/espresso.php on line 119

I’m not sure where to go next with this Fatal Error. I looked at our Account page and wasn’t sure if that plugin is the Subscription plugin or the Free plugin. Do we need to reinstall Event Espresso? The version listed next to the Event Espresso plugin that I tried to Activate says Version 4.10.46.decaf. I don’t know the version of WordPress we are on.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Tony

Hi there,

So, first to quickly explain, ‘Decaf’ is the free version of Event Espresso, the ‘regular/full’ version of Event Espresso will have a version number ending with .p.

It sounds like the update failed to extract properly and there are missing files, or at least there are for Decaf and I’m guessing that’s what happened with regular.

Is the fatal error still being thrown and the site is down from it or did that just show on activation and now Event Espresso is deactivated?

Do you have FTP/File Manager access to the site?

What I would do is download the full version of Event Espresso from your account page. (Look you downloads section you can to click Event Espresso 4 Core Regular v4.10.46.p)

Then on your site go to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin.

Select the .zip you just downloaded and upload.

What does it show you then?
