If you copy an event link and paste it into Facebook, it shows a photo and info for a completely different event. Example https://masterpiecemixerslouisville.com/event-registration/?ee=85 |

Hi, In EE3 events are not custom post types so the link is actually for the event registration page. The only ways around this are: 1) Upgrade to EE4 where events are custom posts types and don’t suffer this issue 2) Create Event Posts for the events and link those to Facebook instead. |
How do you do an event post for an event? Is there a big transition going to EE4 for the calendar manager in the backend? |
|
Hi Dorian, Here is information on setting up that option: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/custom-post-types-basic-setup/ Events that are in Event Espresso 3 will automatically show on the Event Espresso 4 calendar once you have migrated to Event Espresso 4. — |
|
Do you have a guide to migrate? |
|
It sucks to have to upgrade to EE4 just to be able to post a link to FB correctly. |
|
So order to post to FB we have to create a post for each event? They do over 40-50 events per month. Even after looking over the guide I am still a bit confused. |

Hi Dorian, In short yes. Each EE3 event would need a corresponding post attached to it. It does suck, I agree, but unfortunately we cannot change the EE3 architecture to allow for something easier. This is one reason why in EE4 we use Custom Post Types for the events, it makes things like this much simpler. |
ok, on EE4 using the link to the event and posting in Facebook, it shows the title of the event and then jibberish…It also does not show the image. Big Orange Flower – Masterpiece Mixers |

Hi Dorian, that can happen if the default order is used as Facebook’s open graph uses the introductory information which happens to be the ticket selector. A quick fix would be to adjust the order to show the event description first by using a filter which can be added to your child theme’s functions.php file or a site specific plugin: https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/a33405557a2a065779ea This is indirectly related but we are planning a drag and drop option that will let you rearrange the order of the event elements without the need of a filter like the one above. If you are using WP SEO, then you could also set it to look for content from the excerpt: %%excerpt%% However, that requires you to enter content there because if its empty, then the introductory text (first few lines of content on event page) is used instead. http://cl.ly/image/2N33180g0Z1s — |

Thanks. I’ll try it. Will that show the image as well? |
|
Hi, the image should appear as the order is title, event image, and so forth. If its not picked up, then try using the Facebook open graph debugger and it will show you what it is picking up: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ — |
