I’ve been looking over my previous question about customizing the reports that get exported in EE and I see that there has been an add-on talked about and upvoted, but I don’t see it available anywhere – even tho the thread goes back several years now. Has this been achieved? I need to help a customer export registrants by month. She can view them in the backup by filtering, but she can’t just export a date range. Can this be done, and if so how? Thank you! |
Hi Shelly, Do you mean the advance reporting add-on? If so, then no, nothing has changed towards that add-on as of yet. Whilst it has had some interest with 32 votes we are currently working on Recurring events (and all of the many changes required for it) with almost 4x the number of votes and will work down from there ordered by features with the hight number of votes.
This is something that should already be available. In the registration list table view, select a month on the filter above the table, then click filter. Once filtered, click the ‘Filtered CSV Report’ button at the bottom of the list to export the current registration list whilst applying any filters you set (like the Month dropdown). Is that now what you are looking for? |

We get an error when we try to use that button I guess: Any thoughts on why we are getting that? We’ve selected the Month (December – there’s only one registrant) and then clicked the Filtered CSV Report I can send you login credentials privately (somehow) if you want… |
Do you have iThemes security enabled? If so, you’ll get the above error if the ‘Filter Long URL Strings’ option is enabled within that. |

No we don’t… could it be some other plugin? |
|
Well I updated a few plugins and now it’s working… and the export looks correct as well. Sorry to bother you ! |
It’s no bother, it is why we are here 🙂 To answer your question, yes, it can be pretty much any ‘security’ plugin on the site or even a limit set on the server itself. The query string will get longer the more pages and filters you apply, so if you do more than just go to the registration list and apply the filters and then export it may be hitting the limit on your server. What steps are you taking? |

We had just picked on month and there was only one registration that month… so not a big load. I see it’s working now… but we’ll see if the client does. Her complaint was that all registrations exported, not just the month she chose. But I sent her a video of what I did and hopefully she was doing something wrong on her end…. I’ll let you know. |
That error isn’t about the load on the server, but the length of the query string. As you select more filters the query string gets longer, it just more text used to apply filters so not a heavy load but the server can reject it based on length and security plugins often do for shorter lengths than the server does (like iThemes).
Just so you know, depending on the specific version number of EE4 running at the time that may have been due to a bug. If you’ve since updated to the latest version it’s been fixed. |
