Export of registrations is not accurate and contains special characters

Hi there
Close to the event we are required to export the registration details for to make badges for attendees.

There are a lot of special characters in the export.
For example, in the EE4 interface in the browser the surname Hultén is exported into the CSV as Hulté

Is there a setting to fix this?

Hi Janine,

That might be a setting within the application you’re viewing the CSV in. Have you tried opening the CSV file in a text editor as well?

Hi Josh

It looks fine when open in notepad. I’ve tried a few things, when opening in Excel I would need to import the data into the spreadsheet rather than opening directly. Also, need to specifically specify UTF8.

Is there a way to specify in EE4 to export the data in CSV UTF8 format instead?

Hi there,

Does it work if you add this:

define('EE_USE_OLD_CSV_REPORT_CLASS', true);

to your wp-config.php and redownloading the CSV?

Hi there

I have tried adding the line and downloading the file again but it has made no difference.

Any other ideas?

Did the download look different this time?

Without the above it will do a ‘batch’ download, it takes you to a page with a progress bar and then directs you back, if the above worked correctly clicking the export should just download the CSV directly once you click the link.

The ‘old’ CSV report class sets the UTF-8 BOM characters at the beginning of the CSV.
