Greetings,

Tried to find this, but not so successful.

I just move my websites from a dev site to the desired directory to go live. I exported all data from my word press, and imported into the new install. And the only plugin that did not bring all of the customization edits is this one EE4.

The time for me to reconstruct EVERYTHING except for the actual event title was not a welcome panic area to deal with…

So can someone please explain the simplest, most efficient way to keep customizations (messages, general settings etc.) when transferring files or changing themes, or installing a new WP at a new location?

I feel like I just started over…the whole experience has had me consider searching for a smoother partner plugin or seeking some sound, simple advice on how to do this with EE4. The latter first…as I likely made a big error somewhere in the process … but all my files were back-up, WP data exported & imported (following a checklist provided by my developer)…so I am really not sure where the error came.

Thanks…
//Evan

Hi Evan,

I’m not sure if this is what happened here but exporting using the WP export / import tool won’t work. This is because Event Espresso information is stored in native WP tables along with its own dbprefix_esp_ tables.

However, if you did a full database export through PHPMyAdmin and imported it into the new site, then that will work.

The recommended solution is to use a tool like WP Migrate DB Pro or Backup Buddy to migrate the entire site.

Hi Lorenzo,

I am new to WP so it is learning just by plowing ahead and doing. Sometimes the learning s painful ;–) …but just because it is uncomfortable, doesn’t mean its not good of you. That said…I believe you are correct in your assessment. Good news is that there was not so much to re-config…so I’m set.

Thanks for the tip on the plugins.
