EE3: I have 700+ events. My database is about 11MB. Although my site seems to be functioning fine right now, my client has complained of severely slow speeds when updating events/attendees and has receive some customer complaints that payment pages won’t load.
Is 700 events a lot? Could that be to blame? Would deleting old events help speed? If so, how do I do that?
I recently installed ZenCache which helped considerably although my client reports experiencing slow speeds again.
I have a HTTPS redirect…could that be to blame?
Thanks.
For example, what sort of server is the site on? If it is on shared hosting it could be that the server resources are poor or that another, different, site on that server is hogging the resources.
If you don’t need the old events it wouldn’t hurt to clear some out – a smaller database is quicker to search through. It shouldn’t be necessary though. Also remember to BACK UP your database first!!
Have you checked to see if other plugins are causing an issue? Either by running processes that slow the site down, loading large files, or because of JavaScript errors?
As I say, there could be a lot of reasons why the site is running slowly, and I doubt I have listed all of them.
