Does the espresso event system include functionality like “Holidays with unfixed dates” like Easter, Pentecost etc.? |
Hi FSR, Can you explain a little more as to what you are looking for please? Currently within Event Espresso all events require a start and end date which you manually set. These dates can be any date of your choosing, but I’m unsure if that is what you are asking. |

An example: Each year on easter eve the same event occurs at the same time of day and at same location. But the date of the event is different each year (but when easter eve is each year, follows a system). When you have many such events it could be useful to have them registered only once. |
Thank you for the explanation Currently Event Espresso does not calculate recurring dates for Holidays such as Easter. Each event would need the date to be manually set, although EE3 does have the Recurring Events Manager Add-on (REM for short) which allows you to input specific dates in which that event should be created for. So you could create the Easter event and then manually enter the dates in which that event should be recurred, REM would then run through and create a new event for each date you input. It would be quicker than manually creating each new event, but would not be fully automatic. To note, currently REM is not available within EE4. Does that help? |

It is of course helpful, but as you say not fully automatic. But this of course makes the system more useful. I guess this also means that reoccuring events like “third saturday in march” neither is directly supported? |
Actually that is supported, although in REM it is not quite as obvious as ‘third Saturday in march’, this can be done using a 12 monthly recurrence selecting the day of the week to recur on. So here is how I would setup REM to create a yearly event on the third Saturday in March for the next 5 years – http://take.ms/w3pKv If you note the list of dates to be create in this series they match up with the third Saturday in march for each year. |
