Events vs espresso_events post type – what's the difference?

I’m using a really fancy search plugin (Ajax Search Pro) and when it offers a list of post types I can search though – I see both events and espresso_events – Why are there two post types? I’m trying to limit the results and wonder if I can NOT include one of these.

espresso_events is from Event Espresso. The events post type might be registered by the WordPress theme or another plugin.
