Hi there, I updated my event espresso to version 4 and updated the calendar first as suggested but my entire events page has disappeared and says ‘Failed to open page’ it says ‘this might happen if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page’ I haven’t changed anything apart from doing the new instal manually and activating the new plugins and deleting the old.

the URL is http://www.cmhcharity.org.uk/events

individual events pages are displaying though http://cmhcharity.org.uk/events/gregg-school-cocktails-canapes

Id really appreciate some help!

Charles

Hi Charles,

I’m not seeing any issue with the events page. It is loading correctly for me – http://take.ms/r8JIG

Have you made any changes since posting?

Hi Tony

That doesn’t show in safari for me but its showing in chrome, really odd. before the update I had a page with a picture header, title, some text, the events calendar at the top and then the listing of events below and it now displays as per your screenshot? how do I get all of this back?

Charles

This is an upgrade from EE3 to EE4 correct?

You may need to clear the cache within Safari. It loads as expected within Chrome, Firefox and IE for myself.

EE4 is vastly different from EE3, the /events/ ‘page’ you currently see is actually an archive of your EE events and is a virtual page.

If you would like to have your standard /events/ page back you’ll need to alter the slug that the espresso_events custom post type is using. We have some example code here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/

However to note in changing the slug, you are altering how your events are accessed, for example in the code provided the slug is changed to ‘workshops’, that means all your events would be http://cmhcharity.org.uk/workshops/

So your event from above would then be located at http://cmhcharity.org.uk/workshops/gregg-school-cocktails-canapes
