Hi there,

It looks like an issue with permalinks, if you go here:

https://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/?espresso_events=hold-tight-couples-retreat-march-3-4-2018/
https://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/?espresso_events=hold-me-tight-couples-retreat-november-2-4-2018/
https://www.couplesinstepretreats.com/?espresso_events=hold-me-tight-couples-retreat-may-25-27-2018/

You’ll see the events load correctly.

First, can you go to:

Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.

Make no changes and just hit save.

Now try reloading the events using the ‘broken’ links, do they work then?

Yes, all links are working now. Thank you 🙂

You’re most welcome.

Sometimes a plugin (or the theme) can mess with the rewrite rules and mess things up a little, the above ‘flushes’ them and rebuilds the rules used to link what posts where.

That shouldn’t not happen often so if you run into further problems please do let us know.

Hi Tony,
I encountered the same problem re: broken links over the weekend. So I did the same process:
Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.
Make no changes and just hit save.

Links are ok as of this time.

I also noticed that there’s a message from Events Espresso:
Event Espresso recommends PHP version 5.6.32 or greater for optimal performance. You are currently running version 5.6.31-4+wpengine10.
In order to update your version of PHP, you will need to contact your current hosting provider.
For information on stable PHP versions, please go to http://php.net/downloads.php.

What does it mean?

Hmm, so it sounds like its happening weekly?

Have you added any new plugins in the last couple of weeks?

What does it mean?

It means WP Engine are running a custom version of PHP that they have compiled themselves. EE recommends the latest version of PHP 5.6 which is 5.6.32, WP Engine are running .31 but it won’t effect how EE works, you can dismiss the message.

Ok, do you have any plugins that have any kind of schedule function?

None.

You might check with WPEngine and ask them if they can investigate to see why the permalinks keep resetting. It may be an .htaccess issue, and how the .htaccess file works on the WP Engine platform is different than other hosts mainly due to how they set up our servers (a combination of apache + Nginx + some proprietary technology).
