Hi there |
Hi Devon, Is the /events/ page an actual page within Dashboard -> Pages? Can you refresh your permalinks. Go to Settings -> Permalinks, make no changes and click save. What option are you using for permalinks? |
There’s no /events/ page within Dashboard -> Pages. I refreshed the page as described. Permalinks are set to ‘Custom Structure’. |
What is set to be used for the custom permalink structure? For example in this screenshot – http://take.ms/gGwPx It is set to use /%postname%/ |
It is set to use the following: /%category%/%postname%/ |
Hi, That permalink structure should be fine. Does your theme have an Events custom post type? Or are you using any other plugins that may use an events custom post type? |
The theme and plugins do not have any custom post types. Event Espresso is the only installed plugin beyond plugins that support the them or cherry framework. |
Hi Devon, could you try dropping this in your child theme’s functions.php file? https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/ Then refresh permalinks by browsing to the permalinks page. Let us know if the new page works. Thanks — |
I made the suggested changes. I am getting a 404 page not found error. let me know what to try next. |
Hi, One more check please. Can you try swapping to a different theme (temporarily) and checking again? You may need to “flush” your permalinks again (go to Settings > Permalinks > just press the save button). |
Swapped to a different. The original problem is back. There is nothing found. |
I followed all the steps you suggested. Let me know what do do next. |

Hi, it looks like you’ve tested on defaults with only Event Espresso running and a default WP theme and the issue continues. Could you create and share a temporary login and share it through this form? https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ Thanks — |
Thanks Devon. I discovered that this happened when an inactive event was created and then it was edited afterwards. An event is inactive if it is saved without a title or description. Here are the steps to fix this issue: 1) Remove the code snippet that you added. This was a test to see if a theme or plugin was using the default events slug 2) Create a new event and copy your event from your existing event to it and publish 3) Trash the test event. That was to check that your events listing page and that your single event page was working. Be sure to also deactivate the temporary credentials. Thanks — |
Thanks for all the help. Everything is working. |
You are welcome. Enjoy your weekend! — |
