We have events taking place in different cities across Canada. For each event posting, we select the local time for the city in which the event occurs. However, the auto-generated calendar reminder adjusts itself for the user’s location. This is theoretically helpful, but since it is assuming our event is in the timezone of our website, this causes an error.
For example, an event in Winnipeg correctly displays a start time of 8:30 a.m. When a user in Winnipeg downloads the calendar reminder, the reminder shows a start time of 9:30 a.m. (i.e. it assumes the event page is in Saskatchewan time, then adjusts the calendar reminder for the user’s location).
I’m afraid it’s still not possible to set different timezones for specific events within the same site. The recommended workaround is to use WordPress Multisite and set up one site per timezone. Then each of the WP network’s sites can have their own timezones, and the end result will be all of the events within the site will have the correct timezone.
