I had 2 events disappear from my calendar. Upon investigation, I discovered that both of them had changed dates (withOUT my doing so!), so that they were considered to be expired, not upcoming. No one could register. This cost me numerous registrations. I changed them to the correct date, and updated. They changed again. I fixed them, again, and updated. They changed AGAIN. Why just these 2? Why won’t they *stick* to the dates I input? I am paying for this service, and this service is malfunctioning and costing me business. And, for me to get attention, you say I have to pay for it? How bogus is that? I am frustrated and infuriated.

Hi DenaLynn,

Can I ask where you have seen that you need to pay to get attention? That’s incorrect and I’d like to get that fixed.

The support forums come as part of your package and we are here to help work through any issues right here on the forum. We (support) do ask users to purchase support tokens if they wish for us to work directly on their site and/or to work through a conflict etc that is not caused by EE itself. The need for tokens is assessed on a case by case basis and you do not need to purchase a token to get help, just post up on the forums.

The cause of your problem is usually 1 of 2 things:

1. Your ‘timezone’ is set to an invalid offset, it needs to be set to a location closest to where your events take place and not a manually offset such as ‘UTC+5’.

2. Another plugin is using a function called date_default_timezone_set() which changes the timezone your server is set to. WordPress (and therefor EE) require your server’s timezone is UTC+0 and it sets everything up that way for you, if another plugin comes in and changes that it causes all kinds of problems with dates. (note this is separate from your ‘timezone’ setting in WP settings)

No.1 is the easiest to check, so let’s start with that one.

Go to Dashboard -> Settings -> General.

Look for the ‘Timezone’ setting, what is it set to?

If its not set to a city, change it to one that is closest to you and save, then retest updating your event.

Something I did notice when looking over your site is you are very low on memory, I’m getting this error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 454940 bytes)

Which means your site is running out of memory at around 68MB which is a little low, I’d recommend contacting your host and have them update the PHP memory limit on your site to at least 96MB, or if you have FTP access to the site I can do it for you if you would like to send over the credentials?

(Note it’s not your WP Admin credentials, I would need access to the server itself using FTP credentials which you would normally get from your host when you set up the site)
