Events are oversold

Hi. As some of our events are close to be sold out we noticed that the system allows overbooking.
We are allowing the customers to pay with cheques and giving them 7 days for the payment. But the system does not count these pending payment registrations toward the event limit and basically oversells the event.
This will make our customers really frustrated. How can we avoid this?
I saw a recommendation to set the ticket limit slightly lower than the event limit but this is something we would not want for we need to fill the event completely if possible.

Event Espresso only counts ‘Approved’ registrations on the event.

So what you can do is set the ‘Default Registration Status’ for the event to Approved. What this will do is set the status of any registration that finalizes the registration (selects a payment method and clicks to complete) will be marked as Approved.

Those registrations will then count towards the event limit but the admin will need to monitor the registrations and confirm they actually do pay.

Would that work?

You’re most welcome.

On a related note, if you want all new events you create from now to default to use the DRS (default registration status) of Approved you can set that within:

Event Espresso -> Default settings -> Default Registration Status

That’s the default value for the dropdown when you create an event, its does NOT change all of your current events to use the value set, it simply sets the default for new events.
