I dont get it. An event is purchased successfully and the person is taken back to the Thank you page/Transaction page and then it auto returns them back to Paypal again. IPN is on. Stripped down template is on the page from your documentation. None of this seems to work. HELP |
Hi Ann, The first step to fix this will be to go to Event Espresso > General Options and look for the Show payment options for “Pending Payments” on the Payment Overview page? If this option is set to Yes, you can change it to No. This will stop the automatic redirect from happening when the PayPal IPN does not make it back before the customer does. When you use PayPal, you’ll sometimes see that their IPN can take 30-60 seconds after the payment is made to reach your site. By changing the above setting, the pending payment from PayPal will no longer trigger getting sent back to PayPal. |

Thanks Josh. This was set to No all along. Is there another step? |
Hi Ann, Are you running any security plugins like Bad Behavior? These can stop the IPN from reaching your site. Could you also ensure that the four Event Espresso pages are published with the correct shortcodes? WP-admin –> Event Espresso –> General Settings: http://cl.ly/image/1F431Q0Q2R1x — |

No security plugins and the shortcodes are set up correctly. The only thing I can think of is that I just updated the paypal_vars.php to add Dates to the item for Paypal according to this post: https://eventespresso.com/topic/can-paypal-notification-include-event-date/ The date is now there but could that have messed up this autoredirect? Ugh so frusterating |
Hi Ann Marie, Can you go to Event Espresso -> Payment Settings -> Paypal Settings. You should see the option – ‘Bypass Payment Overview Page’ Is that currently set to Yes? If so set it to No and save the settings. Does the same happen then? |

Thanks for the tips. I tried that Tony…one step closer. At lease we are not getting sent back to Paypal, but now the Thank you page says the transaction is incomplete and shows the Paypal button even though payment went through successful. Here is a screen shot: http://www.thetreasuredhome.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/thank-you.png |
Hi Ann Marie, Can you check the ipn log file that’s in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/logs to see if there are any errors there? It’s the last item under troubleshooting PayPal IPN in case you missed it here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/#troubleshooting |

Thanks Josh. I have checked the log but am unsure how to read it for errors. |
Hi Ann Marie, Does it have any errors that look like this?
If so, you can contact your host and let them know they need to update and correct the path set to the server’s CAcert file. If there are any other errors that are different, please let us know what they are and we can investigate. |
