For #1, if you change the slug to something else than /events/ is no longer valid so it would be expected that it no longer displays.
You’ll nee to whatever you set the slug to be, in this case /classes/, not that you may also need to flush permalinks first (Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks -> Save).
For #2 the output of that archive is controlled heavily by your site’s theme. We hook into the_content to output the event details but your theme does everything else. It looks like your theme only displays an excerpt on the service listing which then wont include the details the_content.
As you’re using Divi you’ll need to enable Blog Style mode in the Divi settings, see HERE.
