Event Registration without being logged in

I have a site that last year we did not require users to log in to register for the event. (using a plugin to disable email verification)
This year it is not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

What is happening on the event when you register?

Is it asking for login straight away before it will allow registrations or asking the user to log in after they have input their email address?

(using a plugin to disable email verification)
