The teacher was completing the event registration just now and hit submit and got an error message. He said he had been working on it for about 25 minutes. It appears that his 16 students are now sitting in Reserved status but I’m unable to see them to clear them out or give them back to the teacher. Where can I see tickets that are in Reserved status and is there any control on the timeout? Thanks!

Hi,

You go to Event Espresso > Registrations. If their 16 registrations are not listed there, then they were not submitted. The reserved tickets will be automatically released back into inventory within the hour.

With regards to the timeout, may I ask what kind of timeout are we talking about?

Josh – he had the event open in the browser and was filling in responses for each student. There are a number of questions that have to be answered and I think he has 16 students that he was responding for. He indicated that the page was up for about 25 minutes before he finished filling in the responses and when he tried to submit that is when he got the error. The reserved tickets have disappeared so that took care of itself. Just need to know if there is a point where the plugin would not recognize activity so that I can tell teachers. Thanks.

Technically there is no activity happening server-side when the user is adding registration details, so EE can’t detect that the user is adding details in the browser.

To detect activity on the registration form we’d need some JS on the registration form ‘polling’ the server but then that brings it’s own complications randing from higher load to possible abuse grinding your registrations to a halt.

So, as it stands EE starts a ‘session’ when the user selects their tickets and by default, that session lifespan is 1 hour. There is a filter within EE that can be used to change that and also other plugins can cause issues or wipe the session but generally, once the user selects a ticket they have 1 hour from that first selection to complete the registration on the current session.

That information helps. Thanks!
