When a payment method is being tested in debug mode, is it normal for EventEspresso not to send registration notification emails? If not, what might cause this?
By the way, I am testing a payment method not from the actual production site, but from a staging copy.

May I ask which payment method are you testing? Along with that, which registration notification emails are you expecting? Is it the Registration Approved email? If so, is that message type activated?

I am testing Braintree, which is working fine. The expected messages are: Payment Received and Registration Approved, which are both set. They are working fine on the live production site.
I just noticed that all of these message, on the staging site, are sitting under Queued For Generating. They have been there for a few days. So, probably the wp_cron is not getting fired. Again, is that possible when the site is under development? Should I change the setting to “on the same request”, and is that also advisable on the live site?

Whether the site is under development or not should not have any bearing on wp_cron getting fired or not. wp_cron should be firing unless there’s something set up on the other server that’s disabling wp_cron.

Setting the messages to get sent on the same request is fine for any site. We would not have made that an option if that were not the case.
