We have disabled or turned off the payment confirmation and event registration confirmation emails via Event Expresso global settings and per event as we are now using Marketing Automation to handle emails after registration.

However, somehow Event Expresso is still sending the event registration email from the WordPress side.

Does anyone have any idea how this is possible when the options which say “enable” these messages to be active are turned off?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Those settings in the screenshots do not actually turn off the registration confirmation emails. The second option in the second screenshot, “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?”, actually controls when the email is sent. In other words, if the option is set to Yes, the reg. confirmation email is sent before payment. If the option is set to No, the reg. confirmation email is sent after payment. So that’s why the emails are sending.

What you could do is add a “must use” plugin that will deactivate all email functions in Event Espresso 3. It’s basically a code snippet that can be uploaded to the wp-content/mu-plugins folder of your website.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the reply. So there is no way to simply turn off the registration confirmation email regardless of before or after payment?

We’re using a Marketing Automation platform that we’ve integrated w/ EE3 so that on registration form submit, it passes data to Automation system and then a confirmation email is fired off.

We need the registration confirmation email turned off in EE as it’s redundant and misleading. However, we need the WP user credentials email to still be sent out that are automatically created after new user registration.

So I guess I need one turned off, while ensuring that the other isn’t. Your code snippet approach is plausible, but not if it also stops the WP user creation email w/ credentials from going out.

Thoughts? Really appreciate the support.

Mike

The code snippet approach does not stop WP user creation email. It only stops the registration confirmation emails from EE.
