I’m volunteering for a non-profit to evaluate the possibility of using WordPress to support an event registration activity that would then support pledge recruitment and payments organized separately for each registered participant. Is there some combination of Event Espresso add-ons that would support this activity?

Hi Jonathan — The non-profit would like to schedule a fund-raising bike ride where participants (those who would be doing the bike ride) would be encouraged/supported to get financial pledge commitments from family and friends to support them in doing the activity for a certain amount, say the total pledge goal is $250. What I envision is that once the participant registers for the event, they are given a user account where they can log in and see their progress. Each user would also be given a URL that they could give out to potential pledgers that would easily allow the pledger to make a pledge payment, which would be “credited” to the participant towards their goal. The idea is that these links can be posted on Facebook and other social media sites for recruiting purposes.
What -might- work for you (I’ve never seen this particular use case, but what I’m going to outline seems like it would meet your criteria), is this: have your riders register on your site as Event Managers (using our Roles and Permissions add-on) and let them use the Front-end Event Creation tool to create an event for themselves (“I’m going to ride 200 miles, etc”). They can then promote their event, and the friends and family would sign up as registrants for their event.
