Event Price showing twice in cart

I have this recurring issue that when a user selects an event to pay for the listing of the event and the pricing shows twice on the Payment Overview page and thus doubling up on the final price. Any thoughts on this issue and how to resolve it?

Hi Terry,

If you can post a link to the event page we can investigate further. My first thought on this is something may have been customized in your site’s templates because normally there’s no doubling up there.

Here’s a better explanation of what happens…. if I add 1 attendee for an event, enter my info then the payment overview page shows the correct price for that attendee but if I go back and select 2 attendees, click on the Refresh Cart button I will still see both pricing listed for the 1 attendee I first added and then for the 2 attendees I added after where what I wanted was to have the 2 attendee pricing show. It seems like the refresh cart button is not working.

Hi Terry,

I’m not seeing what you described when I add 1 attendee for an event, enter my info then go to the payment overview page then go back and select 2 attendees, then click on the Refresh Cart button, then proceed to the payment page. Here’s what I see:

When you go back to add the 2 attendees, remove the first attendee then click on Refresh Cart and go to that page… you’ll see that the first attendee is still in there.

Hi there,

Can you post some screenshots and the exact steps you are taking, please?

Both me and Josh have added and remove tickets from the cart and checked the payment overview but each time it showed the expected output.

So my steps are as follows:
1) register for one event (enter personal info)
2) get to the worldpay payment page then cancel the transaction at that point
3) go back to the site, select a different event to register for then click on the ‘REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT’ green button
4) am now redirected to the cart page where I see not only the event I’m registering for now but the previous event that I cancelled as well. I understand why the old event is still in the cart because I cancelled the payment processing part but did not remove it from the cart at that point (or should it be removed automatically when I cancel payment processing?)
5) I’ll delete the event that I had originally cancelled from the cart and click on ‘Refresh Total’ and now I’ll only see the latest event I want to pay for
6) I’ll select the number of attendees, either 1, 2 or 3 then click on refresh total again
7) now I’ll click on ‘Enter Attendee Information’ and on the ‘Event Registration’ page I’ll enter the personal info then get to the payment overview page and I’ll see the pricing listed for the cancelled event and the new event
8) click on the WorldPay button to be directed to the payment page and now I’ll only see the total price of the event I want to pay for and not the total price that includes the cancelled event

So it looks like EE is keeping the cancelled data in the cart up til the payment page then it only shows the actual event I want to pay for… strange. I have this exact same thing happening on several other sites as well using EE3.

Sort of, it’s connected to how EE3 stores the data linked to the user by session.

If you refresh the payment overview page (where it shows both events instead of one) before continuing on to pay you should find the additional attendee is removed.

I can’t see a way to work around this currently but have created a ticket to investigate this further. I did check with EE4 and as it handles the session differently it avoids this issue.
