Our event pages are loading very slowly. The other pages on our site are loading much more quickly. Any help is greatly appreciated! http://gingerwebb.com/classes/

Hi there,

I’ve also posted this in your other thread, however it looks like EE has been de-activated on your site so I can’t view this currently.

If you can re-active EE I’ll take a look, its most likely an issue with your hosting but I’ll know more if I can view the page.

Hi there,

Two issues:

1) There are a lot of datetimes for those events listed there and each of those datetimes are being hidden with CSS, but the database is getting hit with queries to get all the related datetime information. You’ll note that this page is similarly slow (but datetimes are not hidden with CSS there)

Part of the slowness of these two pages is the number of queries related to pulling in the data for those datetimes. Since they’re being hidden with CSS anyway, you can do the following solution:

Solution: You go to Event Espresso > Events > Templates and set “Display Datetimes” to No. Then you click Save.

2) The background image is over 1 MB in size. This one:

You can resize the image with an image editor, optionally smush it, and re-upload. Ideally the b background image could be well below 100KB and it will still look nice in a web browser and use much less bandwidth when the page loads.
