There is too much information about each event in the Event Espresso Upcoming Events widget. I want to show only the city in which the event is happening and the starting date (no times).
So I need to understand (1) How to add a city name to an event and (2) How to make the city and starting date appear in a widget.
I am a competent WordPress plugin developer, so if there are no shortcodes to do this, some pointers to some code and general approach suggestions would help greatly.

Hello,
If the widget options are not meeting your needs, then you could create a custom widget.
Here is an example of how to create one and then add the venue city:
