Hi Robert, The link goes to a maintenance mode style page, so I cannot see the issue. Also is there any more to this: /wp-content/themes/spikes-theme/archive-espresso_events.php on line 5 as it in itself is not an error message. That being said, it suggests that something has gone wrong with your implementation of the archive-espresso_events.php into your theme, did you modify that file? |

Hi Dean |
Hi there Robert, I’m also seeing a maintenance page on the site. What is the full message that is being shown for this: archive-espresso_events.php — |

Hi Lorenzo That is correct, we have a maintenence page pluggin as well. We were not aware that the esspresso pluggin came with one standard. The basic issue i am having is that in esspresso themes the link for event list displays this Event Listings URL – redacted Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/content/p3nexnas06_data03/43/2157143/html/wp-content/themes/spikes-theme/archive-espresso_events.php on line 5 Thanks for the quick response.

Hi, “We were not aware that the esspresso pluggin came with one standard.” Event Espresso doesn’t have a maintenance mode as such (EE4 does but not site wide). The issue is that due to the maintenance mode plugin we can not see your site to be able to see the error in full. Did you add the archive-espresso_events.php file to your theme? Removing it or renaming it temporarily should resolve the issue. My concern is that it’s saying the error is on line five, but unless the file has been edited, line five is a comment so it shouldn’t be causing an issue. With Spikes being an Event management theme, there may well be a conflict. Does the theme use an Events custom post type? We have a guide on renaming the Event Espresso events custom post type so it won’t conflict https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/ – this is only necessary if the them uses “events” as a slug. |

Hi Dean I have now taken down the maintenance page for you to view the site. I think the bottom line here is , i would like to confirmm if this pluggin is in fact compatible with the theme. I tried loading another theme however im stuck with 404 error. |

Hi Robert, Looking at the site, as far as I can tell the theme must have an Event Custom Post type or perhaps there is a page that has been created with the slug Events. Going to http://versatileevents.co.uk/events/ doesn’t show what I would expect it to see. You could try this https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/ and see if that assists. Changing to another theme: did you “flush” your permalinks after you changed? If not, change the theme and go to Settings > Permalinks and just press the save button. Then check the events page on the front end. |
