I have posted before. I have spent months and months trying to solve this promotion error problem. I have a Senior Database programmer who works for a bank try to fix it. He is working with my hosting company and they have tried to fix it. It seems insane that I need to spend $70 for 30 minutes of time when this seems to be a very deep issue. Can you please talk to my senior programmer because we have spent countless hours trying to fix this problem? |

Hi there,
To clarify, are you referring to the error in this thread? Do you still get exactly the same error?
If it’s the exact same error posted, you may have a Senior Database programmer and your host trying to fix this, but you haven’t mentioned what anyone has actually tried in that time? For example, a quick google search on the MySQL error you are getting brings up this: Anyone tried any of solutions posted there?
May I ask, who has told you to purchase a support token for this? The last reply I can find regarding this specific error is from the thread above in which Josh recommend you contact your host and have them fix the error server side. The reason Josh recommended that is the issue not from EE’s code, it’s an issue on the server and not something we can just magically fix through our code, the promotions add-on is attempting to create a database table and MySQL is returning and erro. Your host will need to get involved to fix that, but again, I don’t know any of the details of the fixes you have tried in the previous months trying to fix this. If you can add more details on what has attempted and what hasn’t worked, we may be able to help point you in the right direction. |

Ok Then the hosting company and database person Joseph did a bunch of stuff and the problem continues. Latest email We have reviewed your account and tried locating the files you specified and they do not exist per the output below. /var/lib/mysql/worldl15_worldlegacy/wp_esp_promotion_object.idb If you are needing to modify settings at the server’s root level, we will not be able to do this as you are on a shared platform and this would effect all customers on the server. If you are able to locate any additional information or causes that we can modify for you please let us know. Please let us know if you have any further questions; we are more than happy to help. And I still get the same error when I activate the promotions. |

Thank you, I’ve already read through that thread.
Any clues on what ‘a bunch of stuff’ means? The reasons I ask links to this:
Has someone else from the hosting company, or Joseph, removed the file in an attempt to fix the problem meaning it obviously would no longer show in the above section? (if indeed that is the correct directory, it appears so but depends on the the setup) If someone has already removed the file trying to fix it, MySQL needs to be restarted, again with the info above we don’t have any idea if that’s happened. Unfortunately, the problem is server side, and if neither your host or your ‘Senior Database programmer’ can identify the problem you may need to move hosts. You could try creating a copy of the site onto either a subdomain or preferably another host and test installing the Promotions add-on there and compare. |
