Hey all. I just wanted to let you know that Chris updated our Event Espresso Requirements Check plugin. The requirements check was outdated, and had only been checking for PHP 5 (which is less than what WordPress currently supports) and WordPress 2.8. The new version updates the versions of the server software that is running and does a number of other checks. In addition, it provides you with a detailed Requirements Check page with information about your environment, and adds warnings if your server meets the minimum requirements but does not meet the recommended requirements. Here are a couple screenshots of the new menu page:

Some checks will trigger a warning but won’t cause the overall check to give a warn message. In the screenshot above, the MySQL version is lower than recommended, but the check still passes.

Check passed with warnings
Check passed with warnings
This check gets a “passed with warnings” message because the Apache module mod_security could not be found and because the server has less than 64mb of memory allocated to PHP. This is a local install running on my computer, and you can see that the lower memory doesn’t cause any issues because the actual memory used is so low.

Check passed with some failures

Even if some elements of the check fail, the overall check will still come back “passed” as long as the minimum requirements (PHP version, MySQL version & WordPress version) are met, so it’s valuable to look at the Requirements Check page in the Tools menu to see why the check did not pass without any errors.

To download the requirements check plugin, head over to the Event Espresso Requirements page. If you have comments, issues, or suggestions, feel free to let us know!
