I have Event Espresso and Event Espresso – PayPal Payflow Pro plugins installed on my wordpress site to enable me to offer event registrations and payment of registration fee. I previously has Paypal Express as the payment method, but recently was given a notice message that Paypal Express would soon be decommissioned and to update to Paypal Commerce. I updated to Paypal Commerce and everything was working successfully. All of a sudden things are not working and I cannot checkout for an even registration payment. I am geting the following console errors and I am not sure what next steps to take to resolve this. I am hoping a Event Espresso admin may be able to help me with this issue, as it is very time sensitive for my business.

errors:
paypal-commerce-paym…js?ver=5.0.31.p:554 Error response received: CREATE_ORDER_API_RESPONSE_ERROR
{error: ‘CREATE_ORDER_API_RESPONSE_ERROR’, message: ‘The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation.’}
error
:
“CREATE_ORDER_API_RESPONSE_ERROR”
message
:
“The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation.”

Error response received: There was an error with this payment. See the logs for details. Error: Expected an order id to be passed

Please let me know if theres any additional information that could be helpful.

Hi there,

I updated to Paypal Commerce and everything was working successfully. All of a sudden things are not working and I cannot checkout for an even registration payment.

So I think this is important here, for it to suddenly stop working something changed.

We’ve not pushed any updates for EE recently (with the exception of 5.0.32.p which I’ve just released, but this started happening before that was even pushed live nevermind downloaded.

I’m assuming you were already on 5.0.31 when this started happening?

Go to Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> logs.

In there we save the request/response to/from PayPal when creating the orders.

For each EE Transaction there should be multiple log entries, can you see any additional error details there?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your quick response. We had updated the payment method to PayPal Commerce on December 5th after seeing the notices for PayPal Express deprecation. Everything was working as expected. I made a test event and had a successfully checkout. We had a customer on Dec 11th have a successful checkout with PayPal Commerce. Oddly, on Dec 20th and again on Jan 3rd we had successful checkouts for customers using PayPal Express, although this payment method had been removed as an option by me. It looks like there was a successful checkout with Paypal Commerce again this morning.

I’ve just been made aware that users were having issues checking out, so I’ve tested it out myself and the integration does not seem to be working. We have been using 5.0.32.p and have not updated this anytime recently. When I go to the logs, each of the Gateway Responses are the same- “missing_order”

They will show “missing_order” but with that error PayPal will usually have a response with more details.

Can I take a look at the logs? If so send temp login details over using this form:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Sure, I have filled out the form with temp login credentials for you. I’ve given the role “Events Admin”, please let me know if this access suffices or if you need any more information. I appreciate your help looking into this issue.

Ahh okay, thank you again for looking into this issue. We will have to have our client reach out to PayPal to resolve the restriction on their account.
