The Event Espresso plugin is making our website crash – we’ve disabled it in order for the rest of the website to run. However, when event espresso is activated the whole site goes down.

Hi Amy,

How are you today?

Can you be more descriptive of what is happening? Is it a white page, slow, etc.?

Usually this is a problem caused by conflicting with another plugin or theme. Do you have a testing server where you can change your theme to a default theme or deactivate (not delete) other plugins to see if there is a conflict?

Hi Garth,
What is happening: our calendar function has disappeared, as in you see the word CALENDAR and then nothing below it and our event registration link(s) send people to a page that reads [ESPRESSO_EVENTS], blank otherwise.
We do not have a testing server.
We also do not have much tech knowledge/savvy at all. If you could please explain any actions that need to be taken in the most simple, least lexicon heavy way possible, it would be Greatly appreciated.
What other information can I provide you with?

Also, thanks for asking, other than this, things are well here. And you?

I have a feeling that we are not/have not updated our products.
It would be extrememly helpful if you could tell me what version we are running now, best I can tell it’s EE3… If we wnat functionality out of both the calendar and eent registration do we need to upgrade to EE4?

Hi Amy,

I’m seeing some shortcodes appearing on certain pages:

http://nwnetwork.org/event-registration/

Could you try these steps?

1) Login to your WP dashboard and go to Plugins.

2) Look for Event Espresso. If you see Event Espresso 4, then go ahead and delete it.

If you see Event Espresso 3, then share the version number here in a reply along with any add-ons that you may see in your list of plugins.

FYI – I’m leaving the office now, 4:15pm Thursday 10/1 and will be back in on Tuesday. I will be checking my email sporadically and if possible will respond.
Thank you.

Those are all up to date. Are you able to check your server’s error logs to see the error that was thrown when the site crashed? If not, can you send FTP credentials and WP admin credentials via the secure form on this page?

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

We’ll be able to investigate further if we can access the server’s error log.

Hi Josh or whomever,
We don’t have a server. Our website and webmail are hosted by/on Dreamhost.
Is there ANY way you all can get that information from them directly?
Two reasons:
I cannot just call them to have this conversation.
I don’t have the lexicon to know what I am asking for/needing even if I could call. As in I don’t know what:
“If not, can you send FTP credentials and WP admin credentials via the secure form on this page?”

Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Max,

For security reasons, they will not give out your account information to us. Can you log in to your Dreamhost account? If so the log in information will suffice, and you can send the log in information to your Dreamhost account as well as the log in information you use to log into your website, via the secure form on this page:
