Hi,

I have purchased and am in the process of setting up the ticketing addon for event espresso 3. I am unable to find the event espresso hd app in the iTunes Store on an Iphone. I am based in the uk and when I follow the link for the app in the documentation I receive the message “This app is not currently available in your country or region”. On searching the store all I can find is the event espresso 4 app that I can use to log into the site but it does not see any of the events.

Is thew HD app available in the UK and if so how would I access it. There was no mention int he documentation prior to purchase or since that this may not be available based on country or region.

Hi there,

It looks like you’ve purchased EE3, which is now considered our ‘legacy’ version.

May I ask why you have chosen to use that version over EE4?

The problem with working with EE3 is it not longer receives updates (only security updates) and will eventually be deprecated in favour of EE4.

The EE3 apps were indeed available within the UK (I’m also based in the UK) but it looks like they have been removed, or at least access closed. I’ll open a ticket to investigate this as I’m not sure why that has happened.

We’ve been using ee3 for a number of years and have a large number of recurring events each with multiple registrations. When we set the system up these features were no available in ee4. Eventually I’d like to move to the new system but as I see your multiple registration addon for ee4 is still in beta I was waiting until the full stable release version was out.

If the app for ticketing addon is not available to me then would it be possible to refund the recent purchase as I will need to look at other options.

However, we may be able to restore access to the mobile apps (I can’t confirm that just yet as I’ve just created the ticket to investigate).

Or, you could also migrate over to EE4 and use that with the latest apps. Your current events/registrations will be migrated over to EE4 when you first activate it although I highly recommend creating a development copy of the site first and running the migrations there to confirm it works for you (it works differently to EE3).

I assume you mean the Recurring Events Manager.

Our next version of Event Espresso supports recurring events and has a recurring events manager, you are correct in that it is currently in Beta, however we have been using it on our sister site EventSmart for a while now without issues. We are in the final stages of testing before a release is pushed so those should be released relatively soon.

The only issue for the stores is updated privacy information added to the app listing page (no changes to the app).

The Event Espresso HD app for Android was restored.

When we update the Apple App Store listing, they require a rebuild of the files (crazy), and we’re investigating that option.

That’s good news thank you. Fingers crossed for the iPhone one as well as I have a number of staff using them so would be useful.

It’s not looking good for the iOS app. Since the EE3 was created and available to replace EE4, the EE3 iOS app has not been compiled for the Apple app store for a long time. In its current state, the app can not simply be recompiled and submitted. The Google Store was easy just to update the privacy information on the page listing, but it’s not that way with Apple.

If the EE3 iOS app can ever be made available again, it’s likely going to be a while. I would strongly recommend planning a date to migrate to EE4.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. If that’s the case with the iOS app I’ll fill in the form to request a refund for the EE3 adding I purchased then and instead order an EE4 everything license and look start the upgrade process. I was hoping to hold off until your recurring events manager was in final release but I’ll go ahead just now if that is the only option.

The site currently runs 3 – 5 events a day repeating daily over the year with up to 40 customers per event so the recurring events is a major part of the system that we need.

Hi Gordon,

With the EE3 license, you also have access to the equivalent EE4 downloads. So, there is no need to change licenses so that you can make the migration anytime from EE3 to EE3, and that’s a simple process: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#migrate-to-event-espresso-4

EE4 with the Recurring Events manager is available, and given your use case I’d love to see you try it out.
