On our site the wp-options table seems to have 5 million previous entries and 200,000 current entries from event espresso . . . I don’t understand why this would be. Why are there so many?
We might end up ditching the WP transient API and coming up with an alternative solution for what EE uses transients for. Or, we’ll build in a more aggressive garbage collection for expired transients. In theory the expired transients should disappear after a little while, but we’re finding that this doesn’t happen.
In the meantime, we recommend installing this plugin:
Yes, I have tried using that plugin, but once it clears all the expired transients, when I login through phpmyadmin to check, most of those are still being inserted into DB again.
Thanks for the feedback. The transients will be re-inserted again as the plugin does use the. However we are working on a more aggressive trashing system to keep the numbers much lower than they are currently.
