Hi,

I just logged into my site and noticed the event-espresso needed to be upgraded.

When I attempted to upgrade it, my site went down. I tracked it to an event-espresso-core-reg error that occurred during the update.

Help Please I’ve disabled event espresso and would like to reactivate it with code that won’t bring my system down.

Looks like there is at least one missing file from your install.

Create a backup of the site, then download the latest version of EE4 from your account page.

Then on the site go to Dashboard -> Plugins.

De-activate and delete the current version of EE4 installed.

Go to Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin.

Select the .zip you just downloaded from your account page.

Upload and activate, does it work then?

Hi Tony –
That worked. Strange that when I attempted to get the latest release from within wordpress a file became corrupt/got deleted.

Unfortunately, it’s fairly common and can happen not just with EE updates but any plugin/theme or WP core.

It’s difficult to troubleshoot because it can happen on update attempt 1 and then you can revert the site back to an exact copy from before that update and it’ll work as expected on update 2.

EE is larger than most plugins and has more files than most, so your more likely to see the error with EE but the cause is something within the update process and EE doesn’t actually do anything during the update other than providing the URL to download the zip.
