Hi,

I just wanted to check if there has been any update to a fix for the issue in this post
https://eventespresso.com/topic/android-app-event-espresso-4/

As time has passed the list of past date times has now increased making increasingly frustrating for our staff to find the current one in the lists and I have had to further increase the REST API limit as it was getting to the point of not loading all tours again.

If there is not a fix for this soon available is there a way I can delete past date times entirely so that they are no longer being loaded to at least make the lists a bit more manageable for the guides using the app.

Thanks for your help.

Gordon

There is no update nor changes to the app for this purpose.

You can delete datetimes, but you’ll have to also delete the attendee (registration + payment) data associated with those datetimes before deleting the datetimes.

Hi Gordon,

I’ve been digging into this and think I may have a solution for this.

The datetimes can be set to be ordered by event start in descending order, meaning they would show from the latest first to now.

Would that be easier to navigate?

The REST API limit could then be left at 50 (or more) and as long as you don’t have more than that value in upcoming datetimes they would always show in the app and be easier to find.

Would that work for you?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for looking at this. That definitely sounds like a huge improvement as we normally have a month or so of tours in at a time that would let me reduce the REST API and make it much easier for our guides to find the correct tours.

Just let me know what changes to make and I’ll test it out.

Thanks
Gordon

Hi Gordon,

Try this snippet:

If you already have a custom functions plugin you can just add it to that, if not we have some documentation on creating one here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-site-specific-plugin-wordpress-site/

Hi Tony,

I’ve made a custom functions plugin and added the code you gave me to that but it doesn’t seem to have had any effect on the site or app that I can see.

Other than copy the code into plugin and activate the plugin is there anything else I should have done?

Thanks again
Gordon

Nope, that should be it.

Can you link me to an event you are testing please I’ll check the REST API response for it.

Hi,

Here’s one of the events to try out:

If you need a login for the site or app to try it just let me know I’ll send the details over:

Thanks again

As far as I can tell, your REST API datetimes are now order by DTT_EVT_start => DESC as expected.

If you can send over login details I’ll take a look in the app and see if anything stands out there.

You can use this form:
