I want to limit my event to 10 registrations. I’m unclear as to what the max qty applies to. I currently have 7 registrations but only 5 tickets actually paid for. We allow people to pay at the event. I need to make sure I don’t have more than 10. Will setting the Qty to 10 turn the Sold Out label on when the registrations reach 10 or only when 10 have been sold?

Hi Scott,

That is a good question. Here is an overview of how the events work.

By default an event has one datetime (time and date where event occurs). It looks like this in the event editor:

http://cl.ly/3O1b3e3l3h3T

That datetime does not have any limits. If you wanted to create a limit of 10, then you could do this:

http://cl.ly/383U0v0a1S3j

Now, the default ticket is connected to that datetime:

http://cl.ly/0z2v0A412a1s

As soon as 10 tickets are sold, then the event will become sold out and no more registrations would be allowed.

Thanks,

I’m not sure that answers my question. If someone registers but doesn’t pay until they come to the event will it count against the max. I see what you sent but I also see next to Available tickets a number for Reg and a number for Sold. They aren’t always the same if people wait to pay at the event. My hope is that the event will sell out with Reg reaches 10.

Hi Scott,

You are on the right track.

All registration attempts will be recorded. If you have a paid event, then the event will stop accepting registrations after the 10th ticket has been sold.

This is because a registration with a status of registration approved will be counted and there are two ways for that to happen.

If the event is free, then registration status is set to registration approved as soon as the registrant/attendee submits their registration details. If the event is paid, then this happens after they submit their registration details and pay for the event.

Set the ticket limit to 10 and then set the datetime limit to 10 and save changes to the event.

If you still are not sure, then please share a screenshot of the tickets in the event editor and we’ll share feedback. Here is how you can share a screenshot with us:

Thanks

Thanks for your help on this. I just want to make sure because this is actually a piano class for children and we only have so many keyboards for them. Here is my eventtimes screenshot: http://grab.by/Nqcq

It is a paid event but they are allowed to bring their payment in the first day. I want this to become sold out when “Regs” reaches 10 and not stay open until “Sold” reaches 10 because they haven’t paid. So paid or not, when 10 people register we shut down. Or do I have to go in and approve the registrations for us to reach sold out at 10?

You can also set the Default Registration Status to “Approved”. This way, paid or not, a registration will count toward the registration limit.
