We are getting ready to open registration for my wife’s preschool for the next school year. She has two classes, each with a seat capacity of 10. There are going to be a lot of parents fighting over the spots and I need a system that won’t allow overselling. Specifically I need a system that can handle this when everyone rushes the gates at Midnight on Feb. 28th. I’ve used another plugin in the past but have found that it doesn’t reduce capacity until the registration is completed. Because of this if there is one seat still available and two parents start registering for it around the same time, they both end up being registered and the class becomes oversold. Can Event Espresso can help me avoid this problem?
1) Set the limit to 9 and create a waiting list. The first person on the waiting list gets accepted.
2) You can set the registration to count toward the registration amount by allowing registrations to be complete before payment is complete.
Thanks Garth. I downloaded the Event Espresso Lite plugin to test it out. I set the registration amount to zero in order to allow the registrations to be complete before payment. Not sure if I’m doing that right? While it does decrease the seats available when I submit the form, before hitting confirm, I still run into an oversell problem if two people begin filling out the form at the same time when only one seat is available. Is this a limitation of the lite version that would be possibly work in the paid version?
This is currently a limitation to both the lite and paid versions.
The paid version has the option to create a waiting list, so it makes Garth’s suggestion #1 possible.
