Hello,
I’m using WP4.9.6 with EE4.9.63p, the EventAppCustomizer-Add-On v1.0.2p and the EE4 App v2.6.5 running on iOS 9.3.5 (iPad3).

The GIF logo defined in the backend is not shown in the app.
The “Powered by EE” text is still shown in the app, though removed in the backend.

I already tried to log out and back in, as well as un- and re-installing the app on the iPad.
Any hints are appreciated.

Thanks, Thomas

Hi Thomas,

May I ask what’s the URL of the custom logo file? Also, if you browse directly to the site’s site_info endpoint does the API response show your custom “Powered by” message?

Your site’s site_info endpoint URL is {your site}/wp-json/ee/v4.8.36/site_info

for example, here’s a dev site’s site_info endpoint URL which includes the expected data that’s used by app customization add-on:

http://dev-moonseed.pantheonsite.io/wp-json/ee/v4.8.36/site_info

Hello Josh,

I deleted the value of the powered-by message, the API response returns “null” for it, but the app still shows “Powered by Event Espresso”.
The logo image path gets generated after selecting the desired GIF from the media library, e.g.
http://[domain]/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/logo_Verdana1.gif

Here’s the whole site_info output:
default_timezone
pretty “UTC+1:00”
string “”
offset 3600
default_currency
code “EUR”
name “Euro”
plural “Euro”
sign “€”
sign_b4 true
dec_plc 2
dec_mrk “,”
thsnds “.”
authentication
received_basic_auth_data false
insecure_usage_of_basic_auth false
warning “”
custom_branding
logo_image
image_thumbnail null
image_medium null
image_large null
image_full null
powered_by null

Thanks, Thomas

Hi Thomas,

What’s likely happening is the app cannot access your site’s wp-json endpoint so it’s falling back to what it last had. Does your site require special access to view it?

Yes, the site is not accessible, but I’ll try to create a test platform for you. Is there a way to provide the access credentials directly to you (not visible to the forum)?
Thanks, Thomas

The app (not me) will need to be able to connect with and access your site in order for it to pull in the information from the Event App Customization add-on.

It works well in this context. All events and registrations appear correctly in the App.

So, the App is able to access and connect with the Site.

But the customization has no effect:
The powered by Message still appears, though its value is null,
and the Logo doesn’t show up.

From your wp-json response:

custom_branding
logo_image
image_thumbnail	null
image_medium	null
image_large	null
image_full	null

There is no image set for the app to use.

There should be URL’s for each of those that the app would then use.

You mentioned above the .gif is set in the admin, is that within Event Espresso -> App Customization? If the value is set you should be able to see the image, like so – http://take.ms/itUsI

powered_by null

If ‘Powered By Text’ is null the apps will use the default string, so you’ll need to set something in that field.

If you want to remove the text try setting it to

For me, the set up from above result in: http://take.ms/kuShM

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the hints.
The GIF-image was defined in Event Espresso -> App Customization, but appeared as “null” value, and didn’t show up in the app. Now I tried another sample PNG from placeholder.com and it works fine: it shows up on the app start screen as well as after logging in on the iPad. I have no idea why those previous GIFs didn’t work.
Your hint with   did the trick, now no text appears as desired.
Thanks a lot!
Thomas

Should read: Your hint with the no breaking space did the trick…
