hello
I have a page where i put the [ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT] short code. when I check that page live, it just displays a blank page

As it should. If you want that page to become the new checkout page for Event Espresso, you’ll need to also go to Event Espresso > General Settings > Critical pages, and point the Checkout page setting to use the new page.

May I ask what is the URL of the page where you put the [ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT] short code?

You should not have needed to add the short code to the page unless somewhere along the way it was deleted. This is because Event Espresso adds the short code to the page on activation.
This may help: Try changing the Registration Checkout page setting to another page, save, then change it back to the correct page. Then save again.

I have another question though
I need to display a “view cart” link in my menu
In wordpress menu I used a custom link and add http://www.versalys.com/registration-checkout/ but that leads me to a blank page
Is there something else I must add

You’ll need to install the Multi Event Registration add-on, which will add a cart feature.
