I am using Paypal as my payment source and have found that if I click on “cancel” when I am at Paypal I will be returned to the page that has [ESPRESSO_CANCELLED] tag on it. I found this to be very confusing, so i renamed my page: “Payment Cancelled” rather than registration cancelled, because in fact, the registration is NOT cancelled. It shows in the admin panel. My question is: Is there a short code or something I can use to display the registration information again to the user when the come back to this “cancelled” page? Right now, they have no way of getting back to the registration information in order to either try paying with paypal again or selecting another payment method. Thanks, |
Hi Lisa, The Registration Cancelled page currently removes the session. This is what holds the registration information until a registrant/attendee finishes checkout or until it expires on its own. I’m not sure if arriving at that page after canceling is intentional (since the session is removed) but I’ll ask a developer and get back to you with more information. — |

Hello again, This works as I described in my prior response. The session is removed and the attendee/registrant can try a new registration. You can add a link to your event list page and/or a specific event page. Also, linking to the registration checkout page won’t work since the payment has already been cancelled through the session. — |

Lorenzo, In the admin panel it DOES show they registered for the event, but payment was not completed. Your solution seems to indicate that they would have to go through the registration process A SECOND TIME and essentially I would end up with duplicate registrations for the individual — one that was paid for and one that was not. This can then get very confusing for administration on my part, because not only do i offer paypal as a payment option, but offline payment as well. And, by the looks of things, these “cancelled” registrations could be interpreted by the WP admin as a registrant who chose offline payment method. It also does not seem very user-friendly to force someone to RE-REGISTER if the payment failed at paypal. Please advise. |
Hi Lisa, That is how the system currently handles payment cancellations from PayPal. If the registrant completed a second registration, then that would also be recorded since Event Espresso records all registrations. — |
