I am having a problem with Bot Trap. I had someone call in because they could not register; they were getting the message:
“We’re sorry, but your ticket selection could not be processed due to a server timing error. Please hit the back button on your browser and try again.”
After some research, I read the problem is the Bot Trap. From a previous support post, I took the advice:
“The server timing error indicates the bot trap is getting a false positive. You can disable the bot trap, or first you can try disabling the bot trap’s Encrypt Bot Trap Data feature. You go to Event Espresso > Registration Form > Reg Form Settings to change the Bot Trap settings.”
However, when I turn off either Bot Trap, Encrypt Bot Trap Data, or both; I get a different error saying:
“An error has occurred:
We’re sorry but your request failed to pass a security check. Please click the back button on your browser and try again.”
The error occurs on all tickets and events; but ONLY on Internet Explorer. That is the reason I was unaware of it; the software works fine on my Google Chrome browser.
This is caused by serving cached files. If you try logging out of your site and registering with Chrome, it will also result in errors. Can you disable the caching that’s being done by the WP Fastest Cache plugin? It’s serving cached versions of the registration pages on your site.
I can recommend using the WP Super Cache plugin instead. Event Espresso sets a “don’t cache this page” flag that WP Super Cache will comply with.
