For some reason, on Oct 31, EE stopped generating and sending emails. I would find them in the queue but they had no recipient attached to them. I clicked the wrench icon to manually generate them. I was able to generate and send all but 3. When I click on the wrench icon for those 3 messages, the page loads white and I get the following error at the top of the screen:

Incoming data for the Gateways data handler must have an EE_Transaction object as the value for the first array index. EE_Messages_Gateways_incoming_data – __construct – 51

any ideas?

Hi Daystar,

Can you go in to edit the event and check what’s set for the Default Registration Status? Is it set to Pending Payment, Approved, or Not Approved?
Then, you go to the Event Espresso > Transactions page, do you see the transactions that those messages were for? If so, what’s their status?
Finally, which payment method is activated on your site?

Hi Josh,

Default Registration Status: Pending Payment

The first 2 ungenerated messages seem to be linked to the same transaction:
Transaction Status 1: Incomplete (Gateway Response: 10486; This transaction couldn’t be completed.)
Transaction Status 2: Complete (but says “No contact record, because the transaction was abandoned or the registration process failed.”)

Activated Payment Methods: PayPal Express, Bank, Pay-in-Person (aka Cash)

That first message should have been a Payment Declined message because when the gateway response is 10486 that means the payment was declined. Did you ever receive payment for that registration?

I’m sorry, the status for the first transaction is “Pending Payment”
And the method was “PayPal Express”. We have not received payment yet.

OK in that case can you try setting the Messages Settings to send messages on the same request? This is set in Event Espresso > Messages > Settings.

When I noticed the errors of messages not being generated, I changed that setting. So that part of it is done.
The event is now passed, so I’ll leave the unsent messages alone. Just want to know how to deal with it in the future if that arises again.

Keeping the messages set to “send messages on the same request” should prevent any generate messages errors from happening in the future.
