I’m getting an error after clicking on the ‘Register’ button:

Hi Matt,

Can I ask who you hosting provide is?

Was site was recently migrated or just your license transferred?

Can you provide the password so I can run a test registration, you can provide this using support[at]eventespresso.com rather than posting on the forum.

(Be sure to include a reference to this thread within the email)

Hi Tony –

It is hosted at Dreamiest.

I just reset my license today, but it started doing this yesterday, prior to reseting.

I will email the credentials now.

Thanks

Dreamiest = Dreamhost 🙂

Hi Matt,

Can you check the error log on the server and see if any further information is provided please.

Usually it’s named error_log.txt or error.log

I suspect Dreamhost may be blocking Event Espresso.

Hi, I have the exact same problem. This is a seriously major issue for me!

This is what my hosting provider said:

———
I looked into the cause of this issue and it is caused by a Mod_Security
setting that is getting tripped. You can find the error logs in the path
below:

/home/username/logs/domain.com/http

You might need to adjust your script for this or disable “extra web
security” on the page below to turn off Mod_Security for the domain.

I’d prefer to keep my Mod_Security setting on. Is there a way around this with Event Espresso? Weird thing is it wasn’t doing this a week ago.

This is the wiki page from my host: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Mod_security

Suggestions?

It works after disabling my ‘Extra Web Security’, but not my ideal solution.

Hi,

This likely occurs as we use base64 for added security in certain areas of Event Espresso 4.

Hi Matt,

We are working on finding a viable solution for this.

Can I ask, have you updated to 4.4.4.p?

If so, was this before you noticed this error?

I have updated to 4.4.4. I believe it was working in 4.4.3 (not 100% positive though).

Thanks for the info. As Tony mentioned we are currently looking into how best to deal with this issue. For the time being mod_security will need to be disabled on your host.

I’ll ask the developer to update this thread once we know more about how this will be handled.
