I have one and only one customer reporting this error message: “An error has occurred: Your form data could not be applied to any valid registrations. EE_SPCO_Reg_step_Attendee_Information – process_reg_step -596” (I think that’s what it says – only have a pdf screen capture).

Customer says it’s a “continuing” problem – have asked “for how long?” but no reply yet. Also asked about their equipment and other factors; also no response.

Searched for similar errors in the forum – responses mostly pointed at cache issues, but I have the relevant pages excluded from CloudFlare cache and about a hundred other customers before and after did not have issues, so I don’t think it’s cache.

This is WP 4.2.2 & EE4 4.6.20.p at http://www.ninthdistrictpta.org/events/2015-summer-leadership-conference/

Hi Michael,

I looked at your site and see that you are on version 4.6.20.p. We have fix several form related bugs in a few of the updates after the version you are on. Can you try updating and seeing if the customer still has the problem?

Ok, I’ll give it a try. I was trying to hold off till this event is over – never change horses in the middle of the stream and all that. Is that idea a shot in the dark, or you have real reason to suspect

Hi Michael, could you ask the registrant for the web browser that they were using during registration?

Lorenzo – I have emailed that question to them; no response yet.

Jonathan – 4.6.27 installed.

Either way, I’ve not heard back from the user.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the feedback.

As I’m sure you’re aware, with it being only one occurrence, and having little additional info it will be quite hard to narrow down.

Some possible things to look at:

Does your server run caching? Including Object caching? (not plugins, but the actual server, so you may need to speak to your host regarding this)

Have you tried disabling other plugins in case of conflict?

Does your server allow PHP Sessions?

Honestly though, if one of those was the issue, you would have had a lot more than one user complain.

So it is possibly something on their end, which will be impossible to confirm without feedback from them, and even then we aren’t guaranteed to find the issue as it may simply be localised to that person.

Sorry that I can’t provide a more helpful response.

Dean – No server caching (that I’m aware of), no idea about PHP Sessions. Have not tried disabling other plugins – as you say, with only one problem report that seems unlikely. I was hoping the error message might suggest something to you, but I can understand it doesn’t.

I know something about the users email service, so I’m suspicious that the user may be trying to do this from behind a unique firewall which might not like some of this. So far User is not responding to my questions.

Thanks!

Hi Michael,

Please let us know if you hear back from the user, or if someone else experiences the issue as well. We are happy to help troubleshoot further.

Finally heard back from the User response to my several questions was only “Internet explorer home and safari from phone.” I have asked again for additional info…

I have made a reservation for my self with Safari on iPhone, so I know that CAN work. IE isn’t the most popular browser in my user group but it’s used by some, although I can’t tell what version this user is on. Large (for me) numbers of people are being successful, so this is somehow peculiar to the one user.

Anything you can tell me about where in the process this error message is generated? What anomaly would throw up this message? Validation of something she entered?

Thanks! I know this is a tough case, given the lack of info coming back from User.

Hi, we support the recent versions of Internet Explorer. If they are using something like Internet Explorer 7, then that won’t work as expected.

Could you ask this registrant if they are using any browser add-ons? The version of Internet Explorer would also be helpful.

Could you also ask them to go here to get the version number for Internet Explorer?

http://whatbrowser.org

Then they can just copy and paste the version number in a reply.

I had one other user report the same problem, but I asked them to give it one more try and the res went thru with no problem.

Lorenzo – let’s not get hung up on IE; note she also reports a failure with iOS Safari (which worked for me). But help me understand your response – what versions of IE DO you support? 9+? whatbrowser.org is a handy thing – I’ll save that for future use!

The user with the original complaint is non-responsive and many others are having no problems, so this is not high in my queue right now.

Hi, for web browsers its generally the current release and one major release behind the current release.
