I’m having problems with my authorize.net aim gateway since Monday afternoon.

Some customers (it’s weirdly intermittent) are getting a message that say Error Connecting to Authorize Net or Failed to Connect to Authorize Net when paying for their registration. They show declined on Event Espresso but they don’t show up at all on my authorize.net account.

Some registrations are coming through just fine. I’ve tested it yesterday and today and had it both work and not work for me.

Event Espresso version 3.1.37.11.P
WordPress version WP 4.7.3

Things I have already done:
Reset transaction key with authorize.net and updated on payment gateway settings
Deactivated and reactivated authorize.net payment gateway
called my host – 1and1 – they said no changes had been made to my server or location of site
called authorize.net – they basically said they see there’s an issue but they couldn’t tell me anymore other than that would get back in touch if they figured it out.

Any help would be appreciated or wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I haven’t made any major changes to the site but WordPress did automatically update on Monday I believe.

It sounds like Authorize.net will be able to help if they haven’t already fixed the issue.

So Authorize.net hasn’t been able to help me. Since the transactions that have issues aren’t appearing in Authorize.net at all, there’s no error code or anything to start with.

Aside from the things above that I’ve already tried, do you have any advice about where to start next with figuring out this error?

I switched to Stripe temporarily to avoid disrupting our registration, but it’s an imperfect solution for us.

However, I can turn the auth.net gateway back on to try to log errors.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have been using eventespresso with auth.net for years without issues and I’d love to be able to continue using that setup.

You could contact your host to see if there’s a firewall set up or something similar that’s blocking the communication between your website and Authorize.net. You can also check the servers error logs right now for the times that that request to Authorize.net failed.
